About our CharityAge Concern East Sussex is recognised as a successful partner in the provision of care services for older people. We became an independent body in 1973 and have gradually developed services for older people in East Sussex by listening to and responding to their needs. We help and support the 20 local Age Concern groups in East Sussex, who offer a range of local community services, by providing training, advice and information and organising forums. We play a major role in the policy and planning of older people's services, and we help older people to voice their views and ideas by organising forums and conferences. We would be delighted to receive your own views and ideas regarding service provision in East Sussex. To make sure your voice is heard, please contact us at information@ageconcern-eastsussex.org.uk Our success has been due to the commitment of our workforce and our dedicated group of 200 volunteers. Without their help we would not have achieved anything like as much as we have. Older people make up a quarter of the population in East Sussex, in some parishes as much as 44%. Some need help, but many have the ability to provide help to others and are happy to give their time to do so. With an increased number of older people requiring more intensive support at home in order to remain in their local community, Age Concern East Sussex is facing an enormous challenge at a time when resources are becoming increasingly scarce. Major challenges lie ahead as fewer people are offering their services to Age Concern - or indeed other organisations - on a voluntary basis, and increased competition for grant aid means that there is little money available for innovation and research. How can you help? There are a number of ways in which you can help the work Age Concern East Sussex carries out throughout the county. Would you like to give some of your time to assisting Age Concern East Sussex in its work with older people? You can choose the areas that are of interest to you and that will give you the most satisfaction; for example, helping people at home, befriending an older person, working with the Advocacy Service, helping out in the day centre, a charity shop or the Information and Advice Department. You may wish to give a one-off donation towards the work of Age Concern East Sussex. Alternatively, you may like to be a regular donor by signing up to the Gift Aid Scheme. You may wish to leave a legacy to Age Concern East Sussex in your Will. Leaving a legacy to us will greatly enhance the quality of life for many older people in East Sussex. If any of these are of interest to you, please contact us by post, telephone on 01273 476704 or via email at information@ageconcern-eastsussex.org.uk Also, please contact the charity if you, your family or friends need our assistance. |
