Volunteering at Age Concern East Sussex

The wide range of activities and services offered by Age Concern East Sussex simply would not exist without the enthusiasm and commitment of our volunteers. The skills possessed by our wonderful team are as many and varied as the tasks they perform - from the office skills of administration and insurance, to the more practical skills of our nailcutting and Home from Hospital volunteers.

Ages range from 15 to over 90, and the overwhelming opinion within the team is that the benefits gained by the volunteers themselves can be as great as those given to the clients and customers they help.

Maureen, a volunteer on the reception desk of our office at 54 Cliffe High Street agrees.

'It's so rewarding to volunteer here. I thoroughly enjoy the contact I have with members of the public, and it's nice to know that I'm able to help in some small way. The atmosphere is lovely and I've made so many friends over the past 15 years.'

This is echoed by Brian, a volunteer advocate.

'I always get a great feeling of satisfaction knowing that I've been able to help improve an older person's quality of life - and I've picked up new skills and knowledge along the way as well! The training and support which Age Concern East Sussex provides is first class.'
